Heathrow Hikers - Outdoor Group for West London
Our Members
Heathrow Hikers has an incredibly diverse membership with many nationalities represented.
We all have our own hobbies and interests, but it's our shared genuine passion for
the outdoors that brings us together and is the reason we enjoy each others' company.
Some of the people you are likely to meet on one of our trips include:

I started Heathrow Hikers in September 2004. At the outset the aim was to appeal
to people who had a sense of adventure and a passion for the outdoors. Since we
started I've met some amazing people and I'm enjoying the outdoor life like never
before.
Besides hiking which is my main passion, I'm also keen on canoeing, cycling, geocaching,
climbing and photography. Among my aims for next year, I hope to tackle a long distance
path, try more wild camping and tick off a few more Munros in the hope of doing
all 284 eventually!

Hi, I'm a fairly new member - but have settled in really quickly. My virgin trip
was to the Rhinogau in Snowdonia in August 2005 and I've kept coming back for more......
I have always loved hiking since a very early age and I am now focusing on improving
my leadership, navigation and scrambling skills for future employment opportunities.
I hope to organise and lead a few more trips very soon as I love getting outdoors
(and wet) with
like-minded souls. I'll be chatting about films, flapjacks, running and roche moutonnees.
If, like me, you enjoy a rocky challenge and a full day's walking before a hearty
meal then I'm sure you'll find something on the programme to inspire you.
It's always good to meet new people and I'm really excited about what the group
has to offer for next year. See you soon!

I originally joined Heathrow Hikers because their programme of events appealed to
me. I also run my own outdoor group called Backabush Xplorers. Both groups have
the same basic aim of helping people get out more and make new friends who appreciate
the outdoors.
I've travelled extensively, each year spending the British winter overseas exploring
a place in detail. On my travels I've climbed 6000 metre peaks, had memorable adventures
and met some great characters. Despite visiting these exotic worldwide destinations,
I still get a thrill from being outdoors in the U.K. which has a lot to offer.

Challenge, acquisition of new skills, teamwork, travelling, socialising - if these
words ring any bells maybe you should become a Heathrow Hiker. Given my experience
with the University Officers Training Corps, my sporting hobbies and now Heathrow
Hikers, I get plenty of physical challenges and I'm having fun.
With a bit of effort you get to know a lot about yourself as well as meeting new
people, making new friends, seeing new places and learning new things. People from
all walks of life are welcome here (I'm from North-East India by the way) and members
always try their best to ensure everyone else feels at home.
